Goa!

As this is a family trip, we all realised that too many temples/forts/historical sights equals not much fun, and we suspected the beaches of Goa did equal fun We did not leave the hectic life of HK to replace it with alarm clocks elsewhere.  We had promised ourselves to find nice places to chill and hang out.  So it was off to the famous beaches of Goa!  Due to visa issues, impossible flight routes and 20+ hours of flight time, my choices of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were shelved.  As we have both travelled for a year or more solo, we are used to changes in plan and expected more in our adventure.  Also we had hope to go to the Indian state of Kerala but record floods made that impossible.   So Goa it was for an unknown amount of time!

Cavelossim Beach

Before we left from HK I had signed up for Air BnB.  Many friends had used it and raved about it.  So we let fate decide where in Goa we would find ourselves.  After many, many hours online we found a place we liked and the owner was very patient with me.  Much like our Rajasthan tour with Ashoka Holidays all the online payment stuff screwed up.  Ok pretty much all the online stuff screwed up.  Those who know me well know that I am a Luddite.   Tech and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum.  So after lots of time with the wonderful AirBnB support crew, the user error was sorted and it was off to Cavelossim a beach in Goa.  We got an awesome little apartment near the beach and yummy little restaurants.

The girls room – one massive king sized bed and a single bed…perfect for our three!

Our room was just perfect. We had two kitchens too but basically only used one. This allowed breakfasts at home and plenty of cold drinks, beer and wine!
Great covered outdoor chill space
Lovely balcony joining parents room to kitchen…
Skye has an amazing ability to connect with little children. She went and played with this little girl and her brother most mornings while their mother swept the street. Upon departure we left an HK t-shirt, some colour pencils and a writing pad. There were overjoyed. Simple things when you have nothing. Our girls are learning more here than at school….

The Beach

We got to Goa as the off season was winding down.  This turned out great for us as the beach and restaurants were empty and quiet.  We quickly found our favourite food spots:  Cheers with Sam and Chandru, Mike’s Place with owner Mike and waiter Viki and Robin’s Ark.  The big draw was our endless beach that was almost ours alone.  Fun waves to use our boogie board, amazing sunsets and cold beers….what else would we need to wind down?  As you will see – the beach and sunsets were top notch!

Occasionally other families came by and this family forced their kids into pictures with ours. Yes – forced – their kids were bawling as they were pushed next to our three.
Digging a huge hole
Is always good for the soul.
Fairly shallow water and sandy bottom equals hours of fun

There will be a lot of sunset photos….

Many loose beach dogs all over Cavelossim. Sam from Chhers restaurant comes down with her friend Anjuli to feed them. They also pay to have them de-sexed. Each dog had a name and my girls knew them all
Sundowners…again!
